ITINERARY

You will be travelling in an air-conditioned four wheel drive vehicle and exploring this extraordinary World Heritage area at a relaxed pace with guide who really knows his or her stuff.

DAY ONE
Water lilyAfter joining the tour we leave Darwin for Litchfield National Park. Our first adventure on the way is at Adelaide River. Here the Jumping Crocodile Cruise will take you down the river and you’ll experience the local wildlife and crocodiles in their natural habitat. We then travel into Litchfield National Park. This park is famous for its scenic beauty, waterfalls and safe swimming. This is where we’ll also enjoy a picnic lunch. Once we’re back on the road we’ll explore the giant termite mounds on our way to out overnight camp in the outback, at Mt Bundy Station. Tonight you’ll enjoy a unique “Territory” dining experience followed by a star talk and star gazing!
Camp: Mt Bundy Permanent Campsite (LD)

DAY TWO
After breakfast we will head out to Kakadu travelling via the scenic Marraki Track. There is plenty to see and do! First up today we head to Ubirr Rock – home to one of the most famous aboriginal rock art sites in Kakadu. Take time to learn about the dreamtime stories that inspired the art. After lunch we participate in the Murdudjurl Cultural Tour. It’s here you’ll spend time with the local aboriginal people, learning about their culture, way of life, bush tucker and arts & crafts. This is a unique and truly insightful experience. You’ll then return to camp to settle back for an evening under the stars.
Camp: Kakadu Permanent Campsite (BLD)

DAY THREE
After an early breakfast, we depart on our big day out to Gunkurdul (Twin Falls) and Barrkmalam (Jim Jim Falls). These falls are in a remote area of the Park only accessible by four wheel drive vehicle, via a dirt track. The rock pools and surrounds are magnificent year round and well worth the journey. Twin Falls is only accessible by water therefore we take a short boat ride through the gorge to the beach at the base of the falls. After a picnic lunch on the banks of the river, we take the hike through the rainforest to Jim Jim Falls and its crystal clear waters. We return to the camp for dinner and reflect on an amazing day.
Camp: Kakadu Permanent Campsite (BLD)

DAY FOUR
After breakfast we depart for a cruise on Yellow Water Billabong. Watch as native birds rest among water lilies, see saltwater crocodiles, wild horses and wallabies in their natural habitats, and discover why this unspoiled wilderness is a World Heritage listed landmark. We then travel on to Anbangbang Billabong, to lunch in the shadows of Nourlangie Rock before exploring this memorable rock art site. The ancient rock art here provides a unique window into a rich spiritual tradition. You can also climb to Gunwarddehwardde lookout for impressive views of both Kakadu's escarpment and Nourlangie Rock.

This is a camping tour. We use several established campsites throughout the Park to make sure you get the best bush experience.  Sleep in two person tents, each with two single beds, sleeping bags and sheets provided. All campsites have toilets and hot showers.

Darwin Accommodation

When touring with Billy Can Tours, you will be collected from your pre-tour accommodation in
Darwin at the start of the tour.  At the end of the tour we will drop you back to your Darwin
accommodation (with the exception of Arnhemland Tours which finish with a flight into Darwin
Airport).

What To Bring

Activity on this tour includes trekking, climbing and swimming and although the distances aren't great, in the heat and humidity any activity is more strenuous. Passengers need a reasonable level of fitness and agility and some participation is encouraged.

We recommend you bring comfortable walking shoes, shorts, t-shirts, long pants and long sleeved shirt (mosquito protection and extra warmth at night during winter), swimsuit, hat, towel, pillow, sun block, necessary medication, change of clothes, camera and spare film, torch and a sense of fun.

Personal luggage is limited to an overnight bag and a day pack. Most Darwin accommodation will be happy to store any excess luggage you may have, some do charge a small fee. We recommend that your store valuables in the safety deposit at your Darwin accommodation.
