ITINERARY

DAY ONE

After pick up from your hotel or accommodation, we head out to Kakadu. We travel across the Marrakai flood plains and take a boat cruise where we will spot crocodiles, bird life and explore the tidal river system. Continuing on into Kakadu we cross the South Alligator river before proceeding to Ubirr Rock where we see classic examples of Aboriginal rock art and spectacular 360 degree views. After watching sunset over the escarpment we travel to our campsite in Kakadu. During the evening we enjoy a hearty dinner. Sleep under canvas or in your air conditioned accommodation. (L,D)

DAY TWO

Breakfast to the dawn chorus of birdlife around the bush camp before heading off to Maguk (Barramundi Gorge). Relax in the cool clear safe waters or explore this beautiful sandstone gorge on the Kakadu escarpment. There are underwater holes to explore if you are game! On our way to Nitmiluk (Katherine Gorge) we stop off at Edith Falls for a refreshing swim (pictured above). Our route takes us through the historic mining region around Pine Creek before arrival at our campsite and dinner around the camp fire under the stars.  Campers stay at our permanent camp at Springvale Homestead, accommodated passengers stay at nearby Pine Tree Motel. Buley RockholeDAY THREE

The choice is yours this morning. Enjoy the spectacular Gorge either by canoe or a two hour cruise. The gorge is a canoeists paradise with sandstone cliffs and crystal clear waters. The waters are safe for swimming and the area is rich in the history of the Jawoyn Aboriginal people. We lunch at the Gorge and travel onto our campsite at Mr Bundy Station for dinner. Mt Bundy is an old cattle station, here we have a permanent campsite and accommodated passengers stay in air conditioned rooms in the Stockman's Quarters, share bathrooms.(B,L,D)

DAY FOUR

Today we tour the sights of Litchfield Park. We visit Wangi Falls, Florence Falls and Buley Rockhole (pictured) and go to the former mining town of Batchelor. We return to your accommodation in Darwin at approximately 7.00 p.m. (B,L)

In Kakadu on the first night of the tour, you have the choice of camping in Billy Can Tours' fully-established camp site or staying in budget or hotel accommodation. Set in a private area, our camp site is within easy walking distance of showers, toilets, a swimming pool and other accommodation areas. No matter where you sleep, all guests enjoy their evening meal and breakfast together at the Billy Can Tours camp.

At our Katherine camp on the second night of the tour, there are showers, toilets and a swimming pool, as well as budget motel rooms within easy walking distance, at  Springvale Homestead. There is also hotel accommodation available at nearby Pine Tree Motel.

At our Mt Bundy Station camp on the third night of the tour, there are showers, toilets and a swimming pool. Accommodated option is in twin share rooms, with air conditioning, share bathrooms.

Darwin Accommodation

When touring with Billy Can Tours, you will be collected from your pre-tour accommodation in
Darwin at the start of the tour.  At the end of the tour we will drop you back to your Darwin
accommodation.

Rock artWhat To Bring

This tour features Aboriginal rock art, wildlife, climbing and swimming - and some participation is encouraged! We recommend you bring comfortable walking shoes, shorts, t-shirts, long pants and long sleeved shirt (mosquito protection and extra warmth at night during winter), swimsuit, hat, towel, pillow, sun block, necessary medication, change of clothes, camera and spare film, torch and a sense of fun.

Personal luggage is limited to an overnight bag and a day pack. Most Darwin accommodation will be happy to store any excess luggage you may have, some do charge a small fee. We recommend that you store any valuables in safe deposit at your Darwin accommodation.

Please note: The tours will not run over Christmas and New Year unless by special arrangement. Although holiday time, we feel it's important to spend time with our family and friends.

Pick Up:-

Pick up is from your accommodation in Darwin at 7:00am onwards.
Return is approximately 7:00pm at the end of the tour.

Group Size:-

The maximum group size is 20 people. Our minimum is 2 so every departure is guaranteed.
