You will be travelling in an air-conditioned four
wheel drive vehicle and exploring this extraordinary World Heritage area
at a relaxed pace with guide who really knows his or her stuff.
DAY ONE
Today you and your fellow travellers will arrive into Darwin from all corners of the globe today, so there’s no group activity planned. The noticeboard at your accommodation provides many sightseeing and activity options should you arrive early or just kick back and relax.
Budget Hotel Darwin
DAY TWO
We leave Darwin and travel to our exclusive Dreamtime Safari Camp situated on the banks of the Murdudjurl Billabong. First stop is Ubirr Rock to observe the spectacular aboriginal rock art. This afternoon we take the Murdudjurl Cultural Tour to learn more about local aboriginal people and their country. We set up camp for the evening, having dinner around the camp, under the stars.
Mududjurl Dreamtime Safari Camp (LD)
DAY THREE
After an early breakfast, we depart on our big day out to Twin Falls and Jim Jim Falls. These falls are in a remote area of the Park only accessible by four wheel drive vehicle, some 70 kilometres off the sealed road via a dirt track. This is an area of incredible natural beauty, and the waterfalls are rainwater fed, therefore after several months without rain (around August and September) it's possible they may not be flowing. The rock pools and surrounds are magnificent year round and well worth the journey. Twin Falls is only accessible by water therefore we take a short boat ride through the gorge to the beach at the base of the falls. After a picnic lunch on the banks of the river, we take the hike (approximately 1 km) through the rainforest to Jim Jim Falls and its crystal clear waters. We return to the camp for dinner and overnight.
Mududjurl Dreamtime Safari Camp (BLD)
DAY FOUR
After breakfast this morning, we cruise the spectacular Yellow Waters, home to a wide variety of bird life and possibly the lurking Saltwater Crocodile. Next we travel to the crystal clear rock pool and scenic beauty of Barramundi Gorge or Nourlangie Rock, depending on the season. We then take the Arnhem Highway back to Darwin, arriving at approximately 6.30pm.(BL)
This is a camping tour. We use several established campsites
throughout the Park to make sure you get the best bush experience.
Sleep in two person tents, each with two single beds, sleeping bags
and sheets provided. All campsites have toilets and hot showers.
Darwin Accommodation
When touring with Billy Can Tours, you will be
collected from your pre-tour accommodation in
Darwin at the start of the tour. At the end of the tour we will
drop you back to your Darwin
accommodation (with the exception of Arnhemland Tours which finish with
a flight into Darwin
Airport).
What To Bring
Activity on this tour includes trekking, climbing
and swimming and although the distances aren't great, in the heat and
humidity any activity is more strenuous. Passengers need a reasonable
level of fitness and agility and some participation is encouraged.
We recommend you bring comfortable walking shoes,
shorts, t-shirts, long pants and long sleeved shirt (mosquito protection
and extra warmth at night during winter), swimsuit, hat, towel, pillow, sun block, necessary medication,
change of clothes, camera and spare film, torch and a sense of fun.
Personal luggage is limited to an overnight bag
and a day pack. Most Darwin accommodation will be happy to store any excess
luggage you may have, some do charge a small fee. We recommend that your store
valuables in the safety deposit at your Darwin accommodation.
