We make the drive into the Tabletop Range, an ancient sandstone plateau. You will have the opportunity to take many interesting photos, particularly of a group of magnetic termite mounds, which are amazingly all aligned in a north-south direction. View Florence Falls from a lookout positioned high above the falls. We make our way down the stairs through the magnificent open valley to the plunge pool below. Continue to Tolmer Falls, where we can take a short walk to be rewarded with spectacular views of the falls. From here we venture to Wangi Falls for a picnic lunch. There is a natural waterhole, where you have time to relax and swim if you wish (conditions permitting). This afternoon return to Darwin. (L)

Katherine Gorge & Edith Falls, Full Day

After lunch, we join a 2 hour scenic cruise through Katherine Gorge in Nitmiluk National Park, with a chance to see fresh water crocodiles sunning themselves on the banks of the river. Our tour of the first two gorges takes us past sheer rock walls and requires a short walk to reach the second gorge. Enjoy a brief tour of Katherine, the third largest town in the Territory and hub of the region's cattle and farming industries. Travel via Pine Creek where we see old chinese diggings and historical buildings, before an evening stop is made at Adelaide River where you may purchase dinner (own expense).
