See it as Captain Cook did. Sleep under a crystal clear view of the Milky Way, relax in cool waterfalls, awaken to the melodies of the birds and the calls of the unique wildlife. Drive the roughest terrain Oz has to offer.

DETAILS
Day 1: Cairns - Laura (L)
Pick up at 6:am at Cairns city Mall (Shields St next to the National Bank). First you climb over the Great Dividing Range to Mareeba. Then on to the river of gold, the Palmer River. After lunch you walk around Laura escarpment in search of ancient Aboriginal Rock Art sites. (Reasonable fitness & suitable footwear required). Those not wanting to do the walk can stay at camp and explore the historic town of Laura.

Day 2: Laura – Archer River (B)
This morning you visit the remote remains of old Laura Homestead, then 4wd your way through Lakefield NP seeing many lagoons and native animals only found in the area. You cross the Great Dividing Range to the old gold mining town of Coen, then on to Archer River.

Day 3: Archer River – Indian Head Falls (BLD)
Today you traverse parts of Cape York's rugged Telegraph Track. Cross rivers and creeks, see prehistoric palms, and carnivorous plants, arriving at Indian Head Falls for lunch. Here you spend the rest of the day swimming and exploring this amazing oasis landscaped by nature.

Day 4: Indian Head Falls – Cape York (BD)
This morning it's off to stand at the very top of mainland Australia. Don't forget your camera, as the scenery is breathtaking. After celebrations all round, your return walk takes us along the beach (tide permitting). Tonight you camp at Jardine River.

Day 5: Jardine River - Coen (BL)
Heading south you 4wd your way to another one of Cape York’s secrets Fruit Bat Falls. You will cross Cockatoo Cr on the Telegraph line; we stop and look at the two tallest Termite mounds on Cape York. Lunch at the Wenlock River (renowned for crocs). You stop at Archer River for a beer to wash the dust away, arriving late afternoon at Coen.

Day 6: Coen - Cairns (B)
You bid farewell to the outback as you head back to Cairns via the Cook Hwy, arriving at Cairns City Mall around 6:00pm your drop off point.

You will stay at some bushcamps with limited facilities on this safari and you will need to bring:
1 small bag, approx 10 Kg (no backpacks or large bags please) Bathers, shoes, hat and towel Mosquito repellent and sunscreen Sleeping bag
